Earn thousands of dollars thanks to Roblox

Jacob Girdler has been around Roblox since he was 9 years old and has developed more than 300 games, including a game that earns $20,000 a month.

In 2011, 9-year-old Girdler started using your laptop to build small structures in the game, from houses and obstacles to “wonderful things” that he had yet to think of a name for. Two years later, he developed one of the first games on the Roblox platform called  Two Player Secret Hideout Tycoon  when he was 11 years old. The goal of the game is to build an empire with only a small starting amount. At first no one played the game and the number of participants was only 100 after two years.

In 2016, after designing more than 200 games of all kinds, Girdler received the first payment from Roblox, which was $ 350 in transaction money of  Two Player Secret Hideout Tycoon player .

Everything changed from 2017, when  Two Player Secret Hideout Tycoon  attracted more than 3,000 players. He started getting $1,750-2,000 a month from the game. However, the next product became a gold mine for Girdler. In 2019, while in college, he released the game  Obby Creator , which allows players to build anything they want and share on the Roblox platform. It immediately resonated and reached 10,000 concurrent players not long after its launch.

Girdler attributes the  Obby Creator 's success  to its high level of customization, independent of what he puts into the game. “Players come in and create something interesting. They want to continue to build or share with friends and create the strange element together. Creativity plays a big part,” said the 19-year-old game maker.

Obby Creator  has nearly 250 million plays, and brings Girdler 15,000-20,000 USD/month.

To date, Girdler is still surprised with the success on the Roblox platform. “Sometimes, I forget that there are thousands of people playing the games I developed. It's easy to forget that when it's all happening through the computer screen," said the 19-year-old developer.
